About solo finals
Dance Canada’s Solo Finals is, in its own words, “about bringing a group of dancers together to celebrate, encourage and build up each other’s strengths.”
More than a solo dance competition, Dance Canada’s week-long programming includes:
- Individual interviews between candidates and the teaching faculty;
- Dance classes from seasoned industry professionals, including a mandatory jazz and ballet class and optional classes in tap, hip-hop and more;
- Learning and performing a dynamic group routine bringing together all competitors in each age group;
- Public speaking; and, of course…
- Solo performances!
Dancers’ final scores are based on their…
- Interview;
- Dance audition; and
- Solo performance.

Thank you to the Kovarik family for continuing to host a world-class competition at all levels and giving dancers an unforgettable experience, and thanks to the Dance Canada staff and faculty for helping deliver that weekend.
Finally, thank you to our dancers and their ever-supportive families. We are so proud of these amazing dancers and cannot wait to see what they do next!
